Tips on how to reduce radiation in your bedroom

Hand on heart, how many of you have your mobile phone on the bedside table and use it as an alarm clock? 

Electromagnetic radiation (EMF) in your bedroom is one of the causes that can negatively affect your sleep every night. You do not notice the radiation, as your senses cannot perceive them, but they are there all the time.

The average person who uses modern technology is exposed to EMF in their home and especially in their bedroom without perhaps knowing about it.

EMF comes from everything that runs on electricity. So think about how much in your bedroom you have that depends on electricity to function. EMF in your bedroom can come from, among other things:

  • TV
  • Alarm clock on electricity
  • Mobile phone charger left in the wall
  • Mobile phone
  • Reading tablets
  • Laptop
  • Desktop
  • Wifi routers
  • Cordless phones (not mobile)
  • Stereo system
  • Wireless speakers
  • Fans
  • Babysitter
  • Heated blankets, heating pads etc. that run on electricity
  • Neighbor's EMF field
  • Mobile masts near your home


Today we use the technology in a completely new way that we have never done before and we are exposed to EMF and Wifi around the clock. We still know too little about the long-term effects and health risks that it entails, so we advocate taking the safe before the unsafe and reducing radiation as much as possible. 

The symptoms that can occur from EMF and that can be linked to sleep problems include:

Missed melatonin production (which negatively affects sleep)
Headache
Anxiety
Depression
Fatigue
Pain and pain

Ok, so what should you do to reduce EMF in your bedroom and get a better sleep. Here are some tips:

 

TURN OFF YOUR PHONE AT NIGHT 

Do you really need to have your mobile phone switched on at night to be available by email and text message or to check social media? Instead, switch off your mobile phone completely during the night if you have it next to you on the nightstand, or at least put it in airplane mode. You are guaranteed to wake up more rested and ready for the day. 

AVOID CHARGING YOUR MOBILE AT NIGHT 

Of course, you want a fully charged mobile phone when the day starts, but avoid charging the mobile at night on your bedside table. Or preferably not charge it at all at night. Instead, charge it in the evening and unplug the charger and turn off the phone when it's time to go to bed. 

 

STORE THE MOBILE OUTSIDE THE BEDROOM

Challenge yourself to stay away from unnecessarily scrolling on your cell phone by placing your cell phone outside the bedroom at night. 

It is not only the radiation from the mobile that affects you negatively, but also the blue light from your mobile or tablet, which causes problems with melatonin levels that make it harder to fall asleep. 

 

DO NOT USE SMARTWATCHES IN BED

For you who have difficulty sleeping at night and use a smartwatch to measure your sleeping patterns. Keep in mind that the watch you have on your arm emits EMF and will affect your sleep during the night. What if your sleep problems have worsened because you use the smartwatch! Think about whether you really need a watch that measures your sleep at night, or for some other reason. If not, get in the habit of taking it off and turn it off completely. 

 

MOVE THE ELECTRONICS AWAY FROM THE BED

EMF radiation decreases with distance, so it is important and relatively easy to reduce the radiation by thinking about the distance between you and the EMF source. If you can not remove the electronics from the bedroom, remember to have your sleeping area as far away from the source as possible. 

The further away from electronics you are, the less you need to think about radiation.

TURN OFF ALL WIFI AT NIGHT 

Your router emits EMF and if you have it near your bedroom or in your bedroom, it is a good idea to turn it off completely during the night.
